Ogier Takes Victory in Sardinia as Hankook Powers Through One of WRC’s Toughest Rounds

Round 6 of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) – Rally Italia Sardegna – came to a thrilling close on 8 June in the coastal city of Olbia, with tyre giant Hankook Tire & Technology once again proving its mettle on the global stage.

Held on the sun-scorched island of Sardinia, this rally is notorious for its punishing terrain and brutal conditions – and this year was no exception. With temperatures soaring beyond 30°C, drivers were pushed to the limit across highly technical gravel stages, where clouds of blinding dust and unpredictable hazards kept crews on edge.

Over four intense days, the world’s best rally drivers tackled 16 special stages spanning nearly 320 kilometres. The terrain was a relentless mix of narrow, high-speed stretches, dense scrubland, jagged rock faces and loose gravel – a true test of skill, grit and tyre performance.

Backing the entire event was Hankook’s high-performance Dynapro R213 rally tyre, built to handle the harshest environments. From the scorching mountain roads to the tight, dusty corners, the R213 held its line, showcasing exceptional grip, stability and endurance – all key to success in this demanding leg of the WRC calendar.

In a nail-biting finish, rally legend Sébastien Ogier took top honours in the WRC1 class for the Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, edging past rival Ott Tänak of Hyundai by just 7.9 seconds. The win marks Ogier’s fifth in Sardinia – the most of any driver – and his third from only four appearances this season, solidifying his title challenge in 2025.

Since 2023, Hankook has racked up over 2,000km of tyre testing across eight countries, working closely with the FIA and leading manufacturers to develop tyres that meet the exacting demands of world-class rallying. Now in their first year as the exclusive tyre supplier for all WRC classes, Hankook is flying the flag for innovation, performance, and reliability in motorsport.

Next up: the legendary Acropolis Rally in Greece, often dubbed the "Rally of the Gods". Running from 26–29 June, this historic event based in Lamia is steeped in mythology and motorsport heritage – and Hankook will be there again, keeping drivers grounded (and fast) as the championship roars on.
