Hankook strengthens ties with high-performance motorsport at Bathurst 2026

Hankook has solidified its commitment to high-performance motorsport, supporting the 2026 Bathurst 6 Hour as the official tyre supplier. Held from 3 to 5 April at the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit, the event saw 69 cars across multiple classes take to the grid, delivering six hours of grueling endurance racing on one of the most demanding circuits in the Southern Hemisphere.

Consistent performance across six hours

The Mount Panorama circuit is a unique challenge, combining high-speed straights, technical corners, and significant elevation changes. These conditions place continuous stress on tyres, making consistency, durability, and heat management absolutely critical for success.

The race was contested on Hankook’s Ventus TD, a semi-slick competition tyre developed specifically for high-performance track use. Across the full race distance, the Ventus TD delivered:

  • Exceptional dry grip: Strong and consistent traction throughout the day.

  • Predictable handling: Stability under heavy load and high-speed cornering.

  • Thermal resilience: High resistance to heat build-up over long periods.

  • Uniform wear: Even degradation across extended stints.

This reliability allowed teams to maintain their pace and execute complex pit strategies with confidence from start to finish.

Reliability: The key to endurance success

The 2026 event featured a series of lead changes and intense strategic battles, with Thomas Randle and his co-drivers securing the overall victory in the final stages of the race.

In endurance racing, tyre performance is often the deciding factor. The ability to maintain grip and stability over long runs directly impacts lap-time consistency, pit-stop timing, and overall competitiveness. The Ventus TD demonstrated stable performance throughout, providing teams with the predictable handling needed to navigate varying track conditions and high-traffic scenarios.

From the track to the road

Hankook continues to use motorsport as a primary platform for product development. Data gathered from more than 70 international championships contributes to ongoing improvements in compound design, durability, and performance.

The technology developed and proven under these punishing race conditions supports advancements across Hankook’s broader range of passenger tyres, reinforcing its position in the premium market. Hankook’s involvement at Bathurst reflects a continued focus on performance, safety, and engineering excellence at the highest level of competition.
