Hankook iON Race Delivers Consistent Performance at Historic Madrid E-Prix

Formula E arrived in Spain for the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix, held at the historic Circuito del Jarama. As the exclusive tyre supplier to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Hankook equipped every team with its iON Race tyre for what proved to be one of the most strategic races of the season.

Round 6 of Season 12 was contested over 23 laps of the 3.934 km Jarama circuit. The track’s fast corners and elevation changes placed a clear focus on energy management and race execution. The introduction of PIT BOOST in a single-header format, combined with a revised ATTACK MODE, added further complexity for teams managing pace and strategy.

António Félix Da Costa secured victory for Jaguar TCS Racing, leading home teammate Mitch Evans for a 1–2 finish. Pascal Wehrlein completed the podium for the Porsche Formula E Team. Strategy and energy management played a decisive role throughout the race.

Hankook’s iON Race tyre delivered consistent grip and controlled thermal performance as track conditions evolved. Jarama’s rapid direction changes and sustained cornering loads required predictable warm-up and stable traction across the full race distance. Despite limited historical data at the circuit, the tyre’s balanced performance gave teams the confidence to commit to their PIT BOOST and ATTACK MODE strategies.

“The Madrid E-Prix gave clear insight into how teams adapted their strategy on Formula E’s longest circuit,” said Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsport. “With PIT BOOST and the revised ATTACK MODE influencing race dynamics, tyre consistency played an important role as teams managed energy and pace across the 23 laps. Learnings from Jarama will support our ongoing work with the championship as the season progresses.”

Following Madrid, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship moves to Berlin for Rounds 7 and 8, where teams will face a different challenge at the Tempelhof circuit.
