The FIA World Rally Championship has confirmed a 15-round calendar for 2027, with the United States and United Kingdom returning alongside the addition of Rally d’Italia around Rome.
Approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, the schedule coincides with the introduction of WRC27 technical regulations, designed to reduce costs and broaden participation for manufacturers and independent constructors.
United States returns after nearly four decades
Rally US will take place from 26 to 29 August, marking the championship’s first visit to the United States since 1988.
The event brings the WRC back to a major automotive and motorsport market, creating opportunities for teams, manufacturers and fans to engage with the championship on American soil.
Scotland brings the WRC back to the UK
Rally Scotland is scheduled for 30 September to 3 October. Based in Aberdeen, the event will mark the WRC’s first UK round since 2019.
Developed with Motorsport UK and supported by the Scottish Government and local authorities, the rally will feature Scotland’s forest roads.
Rome joins the championship
Rally d’Italia will run from 8 to 11 July, adding an asphalt event in the Lazio region around Rome.
The rally builds on its European Rally Championship involvement, bringing a new Italian destination to the WRC calendar.
Monte Carlo opens the season
Rallye Monte-Carlo will begin the championship from 21 to 24 January, followed by Sweden and Safari Rally Kenya.
Croatia, the Canary Islands and Japan then form a sequence of three asphalt rounds before the Acropolis Rally Greece starts the European summer gravel events.
Estonia and Finland follow in consecutive rounds, with both events continuing to develop their rally formats. Estonia has introduced a condensed programme, while Finland’s Super Sunday format focuses on the final day of competition.
Paraguay and Chile form a South American double-header. Rally Saudi Arabia will close the season from 25 to 28 November.
New regulations arrive in 2027
Alongside the calendar changes, the championship will introduce WRC27 technical regulations.
The rules aim to lower the cost of competing and encourage entries from a broader range of manufacturers and independent constructors. The 2027 season will provide the first competitive test of that approach.
For New Zealand rally fans, the confirmed calendar offers 15 rounds to follow, including the return of two destinations with established WRC histories and a new asphalt event around Rome.
